South Caribbean tour - history and beautiful scenery
A tour around the western side of the island combining tradition with beautiful landscapes : visit either la Savane des Esclaves heritage site or La Pagerie museum (the birthplace of Napoleon’s wife Joséphine), stop at the quaint fishing village of Anses D’Arlet, where it’s also possible to stop for a swim and snorkeling and admire the Diamond Rock in le Diamant.
La Pagerie is the birthplace of Joséphine de Beauharnais, the empress of France and Napoleon’s wife. At the old plantation, set in a garden, you’ll find a small museum with her personal objects and other items from the period.
La Savane des Esclaves is a heritage site and an outdoor museum teaching about medical plants, the traditional way of life and the island’s history, especially the slavery period. This is the place to visit to understand Martinique’s history, medicinal plants and traditions!
The tour then takes you through Trois-Ilets, stopping shortly to see the old church and also the Anse à l’Ane beach, and then through a winding forest road to Anses D’Arlet.This is a small village with old wooden houses and a beautiful church. A small stop for some pictures and optionally, a swim and/or snorkeling to spot tropical fish in the coral reef, and if lucky, turtles! After this, we drive up to the Morne Larcher mountain for a view on the spectacular Diamond Rock. We finish with a visit to the Cap 110°, a memorial site dedicated to a sunken slave ship.

Snorkeling, drumming and great views
Get active on this tour by shopping handicrafts, snorkelling with tropical fish (and if lucky, turtles!) and by having your private djembe drum lesson! Beautiful landscapes and photo opportunities are not missing either on this tour including the picturesque town of Anses d’Arlet and Diamant, a stop on a viewpoint to admire the Diamond Rock and the Cap 110° memorial.
We start with a visit to the Village de la Poterie, an old Jesuit monastery transformed to a pottery and a handicraft’s village with many little shops selling souvenirs, jewellery, decoration, potteries and much more. You’ll have time to stroll around and find that perfect souvenir or enjoy delicious pastry or a drink in a great little French-style café found on the site.
We’ll then drive through the town of Trois-Ilets stopping shortly at the old church for some pictures before continuing towards Anses d’Arlet. This little fishing village has a beautiful beach with nice snorkelling and a scenic church. We’ll stop for some beach time (about 1 hour).
The second part of the excursion takes us to the viewpoint to admire the Diamond Rock and a stop at the moving Cap 110° memorial dedicated to the victims of the slave trade.
We will then stop at a beach for your private drumming lesson ending with the tasting of local creole delicacies (about 1,5 hours)!
We finish with a drive through the town of Le Diamant, including a picture stop.
